VOLUNTEERS
JOIN PITTSBURGH OPERA ASSOCIATION
The Pittsburgh Opera Association was founded in 1939 to provide financial
support for the Opera and promote attendance. Activities include the Diamond
Horseshoe Ball Opening Night Gala, a major fundraiser to celebrate the
launch of the new season, and Opera Preview Luncheons held in various
locations throughout the region. For more information on membership and
activities, call the Pittsburgh Opera Offices at (412) 281-0912.
JOIN A PITTSBURGH OPERA GUILD
The Guilds are community-based organizations working to increase grassroots
participation in the Opera. The Guilds sponsor the OPERA UP CLOSE with
Christopher Hahn & John Mauceri symposium series, support the
young artists of the Pittsburgh Opera Center, and sponsor educational
programs in local schools. To find the guild closest to you, and for information
on joining, please contact Pittsburgh Opera at (412) 281-0912.
JOIN OR START A PITTSBURGH OPERA REGIONAL CHAPTER
Chapters organize bus trips to Opera performances from a variety of locations
throughout the region including Canonsburg, Greater Greensburg, Johnstown,
Mon Valley, Oil Country, Uniontown, Wheeling, WV, and Steubenville, OH.
For information on a particular chapter, or to start one in your community,
contact Randy Adams at (412) 281-0912 x213.
VOLUNTEER ON STAGE & BEHIND THE SCENES
Longing for your stage debut? Don't wait any longer! Most opera productions
need non-singing extras called supernumeraries as well as backstage help.
Contact Diane Hines, Production Coordinator, at (412) 281-0912 x221 for
information and an application. For those interested in a less public
role, we often need help in the office and in the community. For more
information, contact Carol Brinjak at (412) 281-0912 x229.
